Albion College is committed to providing veterans and dependents of veterans the financial resources needed to complete their college education. If you are eligible for full veterans’ benefits, the funds available to you under the Post-9/11 Veterans Education Assistance Act of 2008 (GI Bill and Yellow Ribbon program) will allow you to attend Albion College tuition-free. If you are eligible for other veterans assistance or prorated Yellow Ribbon benefits, you will receive significant assistance toward the cost of attendance. A monthly housing allowance and a stipend for books and supplies are also provided by the program. Albion’s Admission and Financial Aid Offices will work with you individually to identify all of the aid for which you are eligible. You can find out more about these benefits at: www.gibill.va.gov.
Application for Veterans Benefits under the GI Bill
You must complete an initial application for benefits with the Department of Veteran Affairs. Usually a person is eligible for 36 months of benefits. No one can receive more than 48 months of benefits. For details and necessary forms, please visit: www.gibill.va.gov.
The Albion College Registrar’s Office will send your certification information to the VA Regional Processing Office in St. Louis, MO. It may take six to eight weeks to process any new documentation. Students should complete the required documentation in a timely manner to ensure educational benefits are available when needed.
Enrollment Verification
Veterans are required to verify their enrollment. Verification is done on the last day of every month for the period of certification. To verify you have two options:
