PAYMENT OF TUITION AND FEES
And other charges

All accounts are payable in full on final enrollment day (the first day of classes) at the opening of each semester.

Albion College offers two tuition payment plans:

1. The College's own Deferred Fee Agreement.

For a student to participate in the College's own deferred payment plan, the need for deferred payment plan must be established in advance at the Business Office. In such cases, the deferred payment plan requires that a minimum of one-half of the basic semester fees (which include tuition, room , board, and any additional miscellaneous fees) must be paid on final enrollment day. The balance will be paid in two equal installments including a time charge differential equal to 1 1/4 percent per month accrued from the date of final enrollment. In 2008-2009, the balance of fees is payable on October 1, 2008 and November 1, 2008 for the first semester and February 27, 2009 and March 31, 2009 for the second semester.

Failure to meet an installment that is past due automatically cancels the privileges of class attendance.

2. Academic Management Services (AMS)

The AMS plan enables you to pay all or part of your Albion College fees in monthly installments without interest charges. The plan may also be used to supplement all other forms of financial aid such as grants, loans and scholarships. A valuable feature of the plan is Tuition Protection Coverage (TPC), which is provided at no additional cost. TPC pays the unpaid balance of the AMS Plan should the person responsible for paying the AMS bill die.

Participation is on an annual basis. The only cost is the $ 55.00 annual enrollment fee. There are NO other fees or interest charges. Please visit the AMS website for further information and to sign up on-line.

3. Payment for Students on Off Campus Programs

Payment expectations for students on Off Campus Programs is different than On Campus payment expectations.

A. Payment in full for the semester is expected before the student leaves for the program or the due date on the bill whichever is sooner. (An exception to this is certain Australia programs that start in mid July - payment for these programs is expected by the due date on the bill)

B. Payment plans are not permitted.

C. Students must make sure that all federal loan paperwork is completed prior to their departure so that funds can be disbursed on time. Alternative loans and Parent PLUS loans should be initiated far enough in advance so that they disburse on or prior to the due dates.

D. Please see the Off Campus Programs Handbook for other information.

Past Due Accounts

Students having any indebtedness to the College will not be permitted to complete enrollment for the following semester's classes.

No diploma, certificate, transcript, semester grade report, letter of honorable dismissal, or letter of recommendation will be granted to students who have an indebtedness to the College.

Sound business practice provides guidelines for all financial transactions with the College, including but not limited to the payment of fees and other obligations, purchases at the bookstore and the cashing of checks. These practices include a respect for accuracy and punctuality; and the College deals both with students and parents when questions concerning these transactions arise.

The college reserves the right to increase or decrease fees and charges according to changes in economic conditions. Published notice of any change normally will be given in advance.
