ROYAL OAK, Mich. - Albion College first-year guard Nicole Dennis (St. Clair Shores/Lakeview) recorded another milestone in her young collegiate career Monday as she claimed a share of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association's Women's Basketball Player of the Week award, league publicist Greg Chandler announced. Dennis shares the award with Carrie Snikkers of Hope College.

Dennis scored 32 points, 25 of them in the first half, in leading the Britons to a 77-75 victory over Calvin College on Saturday. She made 12-of-18 shots from the field, including 4-of-5 from 3-point range and made 4-of-6 from the free-throw line. She also grabbed a team-high seven rebounds and dished out four assists in 31 minutes of action. It's the first time Dennis has been named Player of the Week in her career.

"Nicole really took advantage of her first start," Albion head coach Doreen Carden said. "She played with a ton of confidence, and she almost looked like a senior out there. She is offensive-minded, and when she was feeling it after hitting the first two shots. She carried us in the first half and a lot of it was confidence. When she started scoring everyone else had a lot more confidence."
