Although it officially opened the season with a 57-55 victory over the College of Wooster last Sunday, Albion College ushers in the men’s basketball season Friday and Saturday when it participates in the Rotary Club of Albion’s Tip-Off Tournament inside Kresge Gymnasium.
The action begins tonight at 6 as Bluffton University squares off against DePauw University. The Britons will take the floor against Edgewood College of Madison, Wis., in the second game of the night. The losing teams on Friday will meet in the consolation game which tips at 2 p.m. Saturday. The championship game is slated for a 4 p.m. start on Saturday.
Chris Hutton (pictured at left) knocked down a 3-point goal with 36 seconds remaining to help Albion College upset ninth-ranked College of Wooster, 57-55, in non-league men's basketball action inside Kresge Gymnasium Sunday afternoon. Hutton finished with a career-high 16 points, sinking 6-of-10 shots from the field. Andre Bridges finished with 13 points to join Hutton in double figures. Albion continues non-league play at home Friday night when it squares off against Edgewood College of Madison, Wis., in the opening round of the Rotary Club of Albion's Tip-Off Tournament.
Jody May is set to begin his second season as head coach of the Albion College men’s basketball team. He led the Britons to 15 victories and a berth in the semifinals of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Tournament.
