Albion College was rewarded for finishing in a tie for second place in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association by placing 11 scholar-athletes on the all-league football team released Tuesday. The Britons placed four players on the first team, with center Cameron Reichow and nose tackle Austin Rodgers (pictured at left) gaining the award for the second consecutive year. Defensive end Charles Green and cornerback Chris Greenwood will also receive plaques designating their selection to the all-MIAA first team. Kicker/punter Mychal Galla, defensive end Jeremy Green, offensive linemen Shane Jesiel and Brett Rude, defensive back Jacob Lee, free safety Robbie Moffett, and running back Clinton Orr will receive certificates designating their selection to the all-MIAA second team.
Albion College first-year running back rushed for a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association single-game record 306 yards in the Britons’ 60-10 victory over Alma College last Saturday, and he was rewarded Monday by gaining a share of the league’s Offensive Player of the Week award. Orr, who is being honored as the MIAA’s Offensive Player of the Week for the second consecutive week, scored on runs of 26, 71 and 90 yards. His 306 yards broke the previous MIAA rushing mark of 302 yards, set by Hope College’s Brandon Graham against Olivet College in 1996.
