Lee gains Academic all-District distinction
Albion College senior defensive back Jacob Lee has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic all-District IV College Division football first team in voting by the College Sports Information Directors of America. With his selection to the Academic all-District first team, Lee’s name will be placed on the ballot for ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America consideration.
Lee, who hails from Spring Lake, has wrapped up a team-high 51 tackles (39 solo and 24 assists) this season. He put the exclamation point on Albion’s 20-0 victory over Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rival Olivet College when he returned an interception 34 yards for a touchdown.
A double-major in Spanish and economics & management at Albion, Lee completed a study abroad experience in Chile during the 2009 spring semester. He then spent last summer as an accounting intern with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Detroit. Lee has accepted a job offer from PricewaterhouseCoopers and will start a full-time auditing position in fall 2010.
He has earned distinction on the MIAA’s Academic Honor Roll three times, as well as achieving Dean’s List status three semesters.
“Achieving recognition on an Academic all-District team has always been one of my goals because academics are the second-highest priority in my life behind my family,” Lee said. “The award is a testament to the consistent hard work I put into my academic endeavors, but I could not have achieved success without the support and guidance of my family.”
Lee becomes the third scholar-athlete to be named to ESPN The Magazine Academic all-District teams in their respective sport this fall. Mark Feger, a forward on the men’s soccer team, also gained first team status, while Chelsea Gray, a defender on the women’s soccer squad, was a third team selection.
