ALBION, Mich. – Albion College played a strong second half – nine of the Britons’ 10 shots came in the final 45 minutes – but the rally fell short in a 2-1 loss to Kalamazoo College in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association men’s soccer action at Alumni Field.

Kalamazoo scored its goals in the first half hour of the contest as it outshot Albion, 7-1, in the first half.

Albion generated offense early in the second half as Jon Cannell (Vicksburg/Vicksburg) placed a shot on goal in the 47^th minute. Cannell also took a shot in the box in the 48^th minute, but it sailed wide of the goal.

Matt Makin (Rochester/Stoney Creek) got the Britons on the board in the 71^st minute when he cleaned up a rebound off a Cannell shot that hit the post. It was Makin’s first goal of the season.

Kalamazoo’s starting goalkeeper injured his shoulder in the 83^rd minute, and the Britons tested his understudy right away. Clay Hewitt (Dowagiac/Dowagiac) launched a powerful drive from outside the box that the keeper was able to punch away from the goal. Mark Feger (Kinde/Laker) got his head on the ball in the box, but that shot was also stopped.

Albion will complete the season Saturday night with a match at Adrian College.
