Makin scores as Briton rally falls short
Kalamazoo scored its goals in the first half hour of the contest as it outshot Albion, 7-1, in the first half.
Albion generated offense early in the second half as Jon Cannell (Vicksburg/Vicksburg) placed a shot on goal in the 47th minute. Cannell also took a shot in the box in the 48th minute, but it sailed wide of the goal.
Matt Makin (Rochester/Stoney Creek) got the Britons on the board in the 71st minute when he cleaned up a rebound off a Cannell shot that hit the post. It was Makin’s first goal of the season.
Kalamazoo’s starting goalkeeper injured his shoulder in the 83rd minute, and the Britons tested his understudy right away. Clay Hewitt (Dowagiac/Dowagiac) launched a powerful drive from outside the box that the keeper was able to punch away from the goal. Mark Feger (Kinde/Laker) got his head on the ball in the box, but that shot was also stopped.
Albion will complete the season Saturday night with a match at Adrian College.
