Beck scores for Britons in NCAA Tourney loss

Lauren Beck scored her fifth goal of the season 23 seconds into the second half to tie the score at 1-1, but Albion College could not keep up with an Augustana College team that took 20 shots in a 2-1 loss in the opening round of the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championships. Albion ends an outstanding season with a 9-5-6 record and the championship trophy from the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Tournament.

Albion places three on all-MIAA women's soccer team

The Albion College women’s soccer team, champions of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Tournament, placed goalkeeper Caitlin Bowman, defender Chelsea Gray, and forward Ali Oatley on the all-MIAA first team, league publicist Greg Chandler announced Thursday. Bowman and Oatley are seniors who have received plaques designating selection to the all-MIAA first team all four years. Gray is a senior who is achieving all-MIAA first team status for the third time.

Coach Roschek looks forward to Albion's NCAA trip

Albion College gained an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Women’s Soccer Championships by winning the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Tournament last week. The Britons, who will be making their fourth trip to the NCAA Championships, will meet Augustana College, the champion of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin, in a first round contest Saturday at 5 p.m. (Central time) in Rock Island, Ill. The winner of the Albion-Augustana contest will square off against the survivor of the match University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and the University of St. Thomas of Saint Paul, Minn.
